Magazine double page spread
Here I was creating the text for my double page spread with the header I used the font 'bebas neue' font this is a sans serif font which means it doesn't have any flicks at the end of the text, I used this because i knew it would all fit in the boxes, and not leak over the edge, to change the fonts settings I opened the 'character' tab and adjusted some of the setting such as the angle the text is on so it looks different, to the rest and stands out.
On the right is the original un-edited image of ash, and on the left is the edited version of ash were he has been changed to black and white, I also added a hat because it suits the 'genre' which is rock, then i made it black and white because it suited the page, I gave him a coloured eye because it contrasts with him and it creates a colour scheme for the page which i followed.

Then I changed the image to black and white, by adding a black and white adjustment layer then i tweaked the setting of this layer, so i could get the correct tone that i wanted for my magazine then I changed the levels of the image so I could get the right image.
Here I was 'adjusting' the hue saturation levels of the eye I have edited, I was adjusting the levels because the flare i added in was not the colour I wanted, so i was adjusting the hue to get a different colour from the flare to get the flare over the eye I 'clipping masked' the flare to the eye and then used a blending option called 'multiply which sort of fades then together to look real then i went round with a rubber which fades the edges this makes the flare actually look like its in then eye.

Magazine Frontcover
Magazine Cover 1
Magazine Cover 2

I created a folder to put all my magazine cover items in such as the images, the masthead etc..
this really helped me keep organised and keep everything together, and making it easier to find what i needed to export into Indesign.
I used the 'ruler tool' to help me keep everything well aligned, so the page did not have loads of different alignments because that would look un-proffesional.
To create the boxes in which some of my cover lines were in I firstly created a rectangle with the 'object tool' and then i coloured it in with the 'swatches box' and added a 'drop shadow', when the box was complete i went to my sidebar and opened the 'object styles box' this allows you to save the colour and drop shadow of the box and then the next time you create a object you can select the style you create before and it puts the style on your object this really helped because i didn't have to waste time on setting the colour and getting the drop shadow the same.
I then imported the image I took, I edited the image in 'photoshop' by using a black and white adjustment layer and tweaking it so I got the best colour possible, then i adjusted the levels of the image to get the correct tone of the skin and make the skin contrast with the black background, then I exported the image into 'InDesign' by going on file and place, then dragged it agross to get the size of the page.
I created my text first so all I would have to do is put them on at the end so I created them by adding a text layer and opening the 'character' tab and changed the settings so the text looked good, i did this by adjusting the font size and make the text fatter the font I chose for my magazine cover lines was 'Bebas Neue' and 'Times' also I made some words such as 'PLUCKIEST' on a angle so it looks different, and stands out better, this is usually done to the main words of the cover line.
